WASP Terms

The word list below explains terms and abbreviations that are often used in WASP. For your convenience we left out “WASP”, which is often combined with many of the list items.

 
Academic PhD Student A PhD Student who is employed at a university. The academic WASP students are either funded by WASP or affiliated.
Affiliated PhD Student A PhD Student who is accepted to join all WASP Graduate School activities but who is not funded by WASP.
AI Track A track within WASP Graduate School focusing on artificial intelligence (MLX and MATH), Batch 1 started 2019, Batch 2 started 2021.
AS Track A track within WASP Graduate School focusing on autonomous systems and software, Batch 1 started 2016, Batch 2 started 2018, Batch 3 started 2020.
AMG Arena Managment Group. AMG is responsible for activities related to WARA

GS Graduate School
GSM Graduate School Management Group
IMG International Management Group. IMG is responsible for international contacts and collaborations.
Industrial PhD Student A PhD Student who is employed at a company. The industrial WASP PhD students are either partly funded by WASP or affiliated.
ISAB International Scientific Advisory Board. A group of outside experts who yearly evaluates WASP and give feedback to the Program Board.
Joint curriculum PhD students enrolled after the 1st of April 2021 will not belong to the AI and AS tracks, but study according to a common so called “joint” curriculum. Instead of batches the students will be divided into classes starting with Class2021.
PhD Student Council The student council is composed by students from all the WASP universities. They represent all WASP PhD students and can raise questions of importance for the students. Also, the student council assists the decision-making bodies in WASP as a referral body giving the PhD students’ view on different matters.
