The WASP Winter Conference is an annual WASP-internal event. It includes an introduction for the new PhD students and supervisors and a conference to which the whole WASP community is invited to share information about the program and the conducted research. In addition cluster meetings are often held during the Winter Conference.

Introduction for newcomers

The introduction targets all new PhD students. By “new” students we refer to:

  • those who have joined WASP after the previous Winter Conference
  • those who are soon to join WASP

At the introduction you will get information about the Graduate School and you will meet other new PhD student colleagues from all universities in an informal setting.

New supervisors are also welcome to join the kickoff, to learn more about the WASP Graduate School and to get an overview of the different activities.

Conference

The conference gathers the whole WASP community. It is mandatory for the WASP PhD students. PhD students in their second year and above are expected to bring a poster and present their research in one of the poster sessions.

You will be invited to the Winter Conference by email with a link a registration form.

Accommodation and Travel

PhD Students Funded by WASP

All students are individually responsible for booking and paying their accomodation and travel arrangements. Costs will be reimbursed in the quarterly requisition to WASP.

Affiliated Students

Affiliated students are individually responsible for booking and paying their accomodation and travel arrangements. Costs will be covered by the student’s travel budget (not WASP). in the requisition from WASP.

Lunch, Coffee and Dinner

WASP handles all costs concerning lunches, coffee, and dinner for both funded and affiliated students. Lunches and coffee are automatically included for all registered participants, but you must sign up for the dinners.

Program

The program will be presented on the intranet.

Poster session

All students who are not new to WASP will get an invitation to the poster session with instructions. You must have your poster printed and bring it to the conference. A schedule for the poster sessions will be communicated on the intranet.
