WASP Graduate School arranges a summer school every year, one for new-comers and one for students in the second grade.  The typical format is Monday lunch to Friday lunch one week in August.

All students are strongly recommended to take part in the summer schools arranged during their first two years in the WASP graduate school. The first summer school is a part of the introduction to WASP graduate school and community building.

Those in higher grades  can join subject to availability.

The summer school is typically thematic, and the program varies from year to year. Lectures are mixed with teamwork. The program is communicated by email and at the intranet.

Registration

You will be invited to the summer school by email. In the email there is a button linking you to a form, where you sign up or decline the invitation. Please always reply! The registration link is personal and should not be used by anyone else.  After submitting your registration, you will receive a confirmation email. It contains an “edit link” which can be used to change your registration or to cancel your participation. If you are invited subject to availability you will be informed after the deadline for registration if you cannot be admitted.

Accommodation & Travel

All students are responsible for arranging their accomodation and travel. For students funded by WASP, reimbursement is received through the quarterly requisition. Your supervisor/company will take care of this.

Lunch, Coffee and Dinner

WASP handles all costs concerning lunches, coffee, and dinner for both funded and affiliated students. Lunches and coffee are automatically included for all registered participants, but you must sign up for the dinner and possibly also for social events. Sometimes a separate invitation is sent for the summer school dinners/social events using a separate registration form.

You inform the organizers about food allergies and if you prefer vegan/vegetarian food in the registration form. Other food preferences can unfortunately not be met.

Information

A couple of weeks before the summer school you will receive an email with information about practical details. If you have any questions, contacts are given in the intranet calendar.

Different learning management systems may be used in WASP Graduate School.

Canvas KTH

Those who are logged in with a KTH.se account do not have to log in to Canvas, since it is a part of the infrastructure at KTH.

If you do not have a KTH.se-account the course responsible will take care of this. Once the identity is created you can use it for all coming courses where Canvas at KTH is used.

If you for some reason cannot participate in the summer school, it is important that you cancel:

  • Your hotel booking
  • Your course registration and registrations for dinners/social activities
    • Before registration deadline – use the “edit link” in the confirmation email sent upon registration
    • After registration deadline – inform the responsible person at the program office and the person responsible for the course (see the intranet calendar)

Credits may be awarded. If so the examiner will inform the Program Office when you have completed the summer school. A certificate is sent by email from the Program Office to you. You need the certificate for reporting the credits in the administration system used at your university. You are responsible for initiating this process according to your local routines. For guidance, turn to your supervisor. The number of credits stated in the certificate is a recommendation given by WASP Graduate School. However, this is a local decision, often by your supervisor or your director of studies.
