WASP PhD students visit Rovio gaming company.

From gaming strategies to scientific talks on how to tackle global challenges with AI. The WASP study trip to Finland included a broad range of activities, all aimed to promote international networking and opportunities for collaboration.

The program took place in November and the group of more than 50 students was based in the area of Aalto Campus in Helsinki. The program included participation at AI Day – the biggest annual event highlighting the leading AI research in Finland. The students were also introduced to Silo AI, which is the largest private AI lab in the Nordics.

During a visit to the showroom of Nokia Bell Labs, the students could get a hands-on experience on how the research can be commercialized into products for city planning, medical treatments and much more. The Rovio gaming company explained how the AI systems for data analysis contribute in their mission to create joy and a business plan for angry birds and happy customers.

Last but certainly not least, the students engaged in poster sessions and thematic group discussions together with students at Aalto University.

The organizers would like to express their appreciation to all participants joining us on this trip. We hope you returned home with your luggage filled with new ideas and inspiration. If you have thoughts on how to follow up on the contacts established, let us know and we will be happy to assist.
