The WASP Graduate School organizes two summer schools each year, one for new students and another for 2nd year students and above. This year they were co-located in Norrköping in the Visualization Center C. Amid group exercises and presentations by WASP Management and industry, students also met in social activities mixing the students from the two summer schools.
Newcomers to the WASP Graduate School spent the week getting introduced to each other and the program, its’ different research areas and possibilities for industrial collaboration. A workshop on diversity and inclusion received positive reviews in the preliminary results of the evaluation survey.
Students in their later years took part in a thematic summer school on the Synthesis of Human Communication organized by WARA Media & Language. Their assignment was to build their own avatars with coaching from industry and academic representatives also taking part in a parallel WARA Media & Language workshop. The avatars were presented in the large dome of the Visualization Center at the conclusion of both summer schools.
The Program Office would like to express a big thanks to all summer school participants and presenters for your active contribution during the week. We hope that you gained a lot of new insights and valuable connections to build further upon during your time in WASP!
